Hey! another before-i-buy thread from me lol. Anyways, in building my new PC, i wanted to go green and black to match my motherboard which was a present (G1. Sniper z87) and i was considering the Corsair Vengeance LP Green clocked at 2133mhz. But after doing some research, it seems many people are having trouble getting it to work properly on all their series 8 G1. sniper mobos. This is a first build so i don't know much about doing stuff in the BIOS like extra voltage and stuff. I just want to confirm if it's meant to work because under compatibility on the Gigabyte website. 2133 was listed as supported but had (oc) next to it. What does this mean? i know oc means overclock but i have no idea if it will work. Sorry about my lack of knowledge i'm still in high school :3 and i'm buying parts thru part time job earnings. Thx

My build:
i7 4790k
G1. Sniper z87
EVGA SC 780ti
CM750x psu
Kingston V300 SSDnow 60gb boot drive
Seagate Barracuda 1tb 7200rpm
NZXT H440

Solution
The OC indicates to run the DRAM at that freq it may take an OC of the CPU, the 4790K can often carry 2133 sticks without an actual OC as it incorporates turbo boost....but no guarantee. However, OCing the CPU is fairly easy, say to 4 GHz it generally is nothing more than changing the multiplier, so you should be fine
