Hello everybody,

I have the mother board Asus P8Z68-V LX and it has a x16 and x4 PCIe 2.0 slot.

Due to some problems with the x16 slot ( the blue one ) I have taken out my GPU ( nvidia 770gtx ) and put it in the black slot ( the x4 PCIe 2.0 ). I am aware I will get a slight performance decrease, that is not the isse. My issue is that it runs at 2.5Gb/s.

I have change from BIOS to use the x4 variant ( was at x2 by default, don't know why ) but the speed remained the same as x2 ( 2.5Gb/s ).

hWinfo reads this :

Video Bus: PCIe v2.0 x16 (5.0 Gb/s) @ x4 (2.5 Gb/s)

So, my question is : Can I change this transfer rate so I can match 5Gb/s ? From what I have read PCIe 2.0 x4 can do that. I want to achieve this : PCIe v2.0 x16 (5.0 Gb/s) @ x4 (5 Gb/s). I do not have this option in BIOS.

Thanks for your time.

No, no it can. It was a readings problem. hWInfo does not refresh it's data and I was monitoring those reading when my GPU was idle.

Running a gpu stress test and opening hWInfo showed me indeed PCIe v2.0 x16 (5.0 Gb/s) @ x4 (5.0 Gb/s).

Well, useless thread...
