New guy here - looking to get back into PC gaming after using consoles for a good 6 years.

I recently finished a budget build but I am having some issues with it. In certain games such as Insurgency, CS:GO, and BF3, I get random FPS drops. It happens no matter what settings I have it on. I run high on most and average 70-150FPS. Insurgency and BF3 average around 70 on max settings and CS:GO is anywhere from 90-150 depending on the map and amount of people in the server. It will be running great then randomly drop to 25 or lower fps and lag for a couple seconds and then back to normal. Very frustrating when playing an FPS. I know it is not over heating. It is rare for the the CPU to exceed 160 degrees F.

My build :
Raidmax Aeolus case - 500W PSU
4 120mm fans (1 intake, 1 rear exhaust, and 2 top exhaust)
AMD FX6300 Black Edition
Gigabyte R7 260X 2GB OC graphics card
8GB Kingston HyperX Blu RAM
1TB Seagate SATA HDD
ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS mobo

I am running the latest drivers for everything as far as I can tell. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Austin

If it helps at all, I took a screenshot of my CPU usage as well if that may be the issue

Have you overclocked your CPU at all? If i converted it right, 160 degrees F is about 70C, according to AMD the FX 6300 shouldn't exceed 65C. I also have an FX 6300 and at stock speeds with bundled cooler it rarely exceeds 55C.

Also, is your PSU a Raidmax model? I've heard bad things about them, it may not be providing an even, constant supply of power?

Interesting. I haven't checked temp while gaming. I will do that here in a little. Only time I noticed it got that hot was when the AMD Catalyst thing was running it's over clock program. I am currently running at stock speed though.

The PSU is raidmax as well. It came with the case and all of the fans for $80. Is there any way to test that?

ETA : Played a bit - looks like mine had a max of 140 degrees F (about 60 degrees C) and averaged around 120F. This is using the app Core Temp
