hello guys , like the topic title says , i want to buy an i5 but i'm still wondering if getting an i5 4690 is worth it since the i5 4440 is 50 bucks cheaper in my country , i want to use the i5 only for gaming , I don't want to OC it , and i want to ask if there are any noticeable fps changes between i5 4690 and i5 4440 in cpu /gpu dependant games ?
my rig
i3 2120 3.3 ghz
6gb ram
amd radeon r9 270x gaming edition oc
ocz cz 650w 80+ bronze

Note : i don't intend to change my gpu , i bought it a month ago and it suits me well .

More about : moving 2120 4440 4690

What motherboard do you currently have? If possible, I would just upgrade the CPU in your current system to an ivy i5 or i7. Far better price/performance if said upgrade is possible.

Well the i5 4690 has significantly higher turbo clock speed 3.9 GHz vs 3.3 GHz(i5 4440), higher clock speed 3.5 GHz vs 3.1 GHz, I'd say it's worth to get the i5 4690, it will last you for a while check this link i5 4690 vs 4440 http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-4690-vs-Intel-Cor...

I second this advice. Not enough of a benefit from Haswell to justify replacing the motherboard as well, since he's not overclocking.

To answer the question more directly, no there is not a noticeable difference from the i5-4440 to the i5-4690, unless you have a GTX 780 Ti or an R9 290X. And even then the difference is negligible, and way over 60 fps either way.

Look online for your CPU then. New motherboard will often mean new copy of Windows as well.
