Display driver constantly stops, and graphics card is very noisy when in game

So, I bought an HP desktop in Tokyo last year. I started playing Batman Arkham City last year and at first there was no problem at all. Everything worked perfectly and the graphics card didn't make any noise. Earlier this year I started up a game after not playing for a while and there was a loud whine coming from the graphics card. I shut down, cleaned out the computer of any dust, but the noise has continued to persist even when I play games that previously never caused any noise. On top of that I get constant display driver errors when using the web or vlc player.

To clarify, it's a japanese machine running Windows 8.1 in English mode. I tried to update my BIOS but cannot find anything online.

Here's my system info:
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 running the latest drivers.

I don't know much about graphics cards and am kind of new to PC gaming (only started last year).

Any help would be appreciated.

well it looks as though you have a 300w power supply based on the manufacturers reports (unless you've already upgraded your power supply). In order to install any decent video card you will need a decent power supply upgrade.

This is a 450w semi modular power supply for 25$ with rebate.

This is a 500w power supply for 30$ with rebate.

If you want absolutely the best bang for your buck (99$)...

This unfortunately sounds like a failing graphics card, Driver crashes and I'm assuming that this happens in game as well.

It could possibly be an issue with your drivers though, you might consider uninstalling Nvidia drivers and reinstalling the correct drivers from Nvidia to make sure virus's and such have not somehow damaged your Driver.

However the fact that there is a high pitched wine means that likely your fan has begun going out on your GPU, which may mean that you've overheated your video card causing instability (driver crashes).

However one lucky thing is that the video card you own is one of the cheapest cards on the market. honestly hardly better than the integrated graphics. You could replace this card with a much better card (most likely) very inexpensively.

Most likely your biggest hurdles will be power and space requirement if you can give us some more info about your system I might be able to help make some suggestions. (model of computer)

@angelice Thanks a lot for the response. That's really helpful.

I want to replace it, but I also want to upgrade. (I just saw the trailer for Assassin's Creed Unity and I'm not going to be able to resist! - Specs for the game: http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=17084&game=Assassins%20Creed:%20Unity)

My model is an HP Pavillion p6 Series model no. p6-2410jp

Which graphics card would you recommend? Also, I've never replaced a graphics card before. Are there any good instructional sites?

Then this is what you will need. This should be capable of playing almost any game on the market maxed out or very nearly. This will also require purchasing the 500w power supply.
This video card however may not have room in your case. (however I believe by removing the Hard Drive cage you may well be able to get it to sit in there however the manufacturers site doesn't give very much information.)

the next step down is a drastic one about 1/4th the performance 85$ (plus the 450w power supply)

btw the top one is a Radeon Hd 6970 (this is the very top of the line single gpu card from AMD a couple years back.) (You should be able to play just about any game you want including AC:Unity at high settings assuming you have enough ram (4gb or more) honestly with this video card your processor would be your limiting factor and well, when you went to upgrade in the future this video card and power supply would both be great additions to a new build.

The second one is a Nvidia Gtx 650 (This is considered a entry level gaming graphics card.) and well they are almost the same price so if we can get you to measure your case I would go for the other for the fact of RAW power and performance.) (However this card would work for low - medium settings on your suggested game)
