Hey guys,
I think there is a problem with my computer and it is constantly freezing and is very slow.
So to start fresh, I want to format my internal hard drive.
I have an external hard drive and I want to know how to save my software onto the hard drive(i.e, Photoshop, After Effects...).
Also, how exactly would I go forth with the format?
And finally, If I format my internal hard drive, will it wipe out Windows as well?
I have Windows 7 Ultimate.
Thanks!

Yes, formatting the HDD will remove Windows (and everything else) in the process. Regarding saving your documents and applications (installation files), you can certainly transfer those to your external HDD. You will still have to reinstall your applications (i.e., Photoshop, After Effects, etc) after re-installing Windows.

Wow I don't think I want to go through that process lol.... I think I'll just dump it and get a new PC.
Thanks for the quick reply!

You would have to do the same on a new PC as well.

Maybe we should just troubleshoot your existing rig to see if its performance can be improved. What are the specs (complete listing of components, including make/model) for your rig? Are you overclocking anything (CPU, GPU, memory)? What are your operating temperatures at idle and under load? Is Windows fully up to date? Have you performed a complete anti-virus and anti-malware scan recently?
