Should I crossfire my 7870 or get a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti/R9 290X 4GB?

This is my current setup: http://de.pcpartpicker.com/p/jVGfxr (i7 overclocked to 4ghz)
I have a very old shitty office monitor and I want to upgrade to a 144hz BenQ XL Series XL2411Z but I am not getting 100>fps in most games at the moment so I want to upgrade my GPU as well. I was thinking about getting a second 7870 which would be cheaper and get me a lot more performance but I am hearing a lot of negative stuff about crossfire and I’m not sure my PSU can handle, heating, etc...
So should I get a GTX 780 instead? I would be able to use the 3d on my monitor and I should get 100>fps on ultra in most games. Would nothing else in my pc hold the 780 back?
Any advice would be appreciated.
The games I play: CoD, League of Legends, singe player fps's (metro and such), Arma, Dayz and RPG’s (Skyrim)
Thanks

Alright, what about choosing between a 290x and a 780ti? I see the 290x is a atleast 150 euros and performances the same, would the 290x be a good choice? Or does the nvidia has some kind of large advantages?
The 290x is a very competent card, and getting one with a good after-market cooler is indeed a great buy for any gamer. The 780Ti is a bit more powerful, runs cooler, has greater overclocking headroom, uses less power when idling, and has some really nice features like Geforce Experience, Shadowplay, PhysX, GSync, 3D-Surround, etc. It is more expensive but quality always comes with a price. I would spend alot more money if I got a 780 would it be worth it instead of crossfire 7870? And for how many years will I still be able to play new games on atleast 100 fps? And then 60?

A single powerful GPU is always better than two mid/low range cards in tandem. Get the 780Ti, it is an awesome card and in most cases it would be more powerful than two 7870s combined.

Firstly, a 780 is not the same as a 780Ti, similarly a 290 isn't the same as a 290X. The 290X is better than a plain 290 and a 780Ti is significantly more powerful than a plain 780.

Nonetheless, your CPU is fine, as for getting 100+fps in most games, it depends on the resolution and graphics settings.

What about the normal 780? Its the same price range as the 290x which one would be a better choice? I think the 780TI is just a bit too expensive for me. I just want a card that can push games over 100 fps and take advantage of 144hz.

a 780 can't do that, neitehr can a r9 290x really, for that you need a 780 ti,
In order of powerfulness
1 780 ti
2 r9 290x
3 780
4 r9 290
and for over 100fps and take advantage of 144hz, you need to be looking at sli 780's or sli 780 ti's or crossfire etc
