Hey guys, I was wondering if I have damaged my CPU because I whilst I was clean off the thermal paste on CPU to replace it, I got some on the green section of my CPU. It was in the socket whilst I was cleaning it. Will it be ok to power on, or should I wait, and if so how long?

Remove the CPU from the socket. Ensure there is no thermal paste on the copper contacts (or pins) on the other side of the CPU. Ensure the socket doesn't have thermal paste in it. Clean it with appropriate cleaning measures and hope for the best.

If you don't know how to clean a CPU, ask before you ruin it.
