Recently I started playing War Thunder on my PC, after a few minutes of playing my PC shut off and restarted. This has happened a few times now so I started to worry. I decided to run OCCT, just a quick 5 minute test, to see if it would happen there too. Well my PC crashed and restarted while testing it in OCCT. In the test I noticed that the temp, that I think is the GPU's, reached around 80-89 before it shut off. The CPU temps are fine at around 35-40. The only new additions to my PC in the last few months is a CPU water cooler, h100i, a new monitor, a sound card, and a new headset. Not much internally has been added or changed. The monitor was an upgrade to 1080p from 960p (?) so that may be a possible cause. So what is you guys thoughts on this and how can I fix this. Thanks in advance.

My PC Specs w/Peripherals:

MSI G43 Motherboard
i5 3570k
AMD 7950 (XFX)
Corsair TX650W
Creative SoundBlaster Z
Rosewill Wifi card
Corsair H100i watercooler
8GB Corsair Vengeance Ram
Adata 64GB SSD
1TB HDD

Peripherals

Razer Keyboard
Razer Deathadder Mouse
Astro a50 headset
Asus MX279 monitor (Obtained recently, possibly before the crashing began)

Thanks again for any help.

Is anything overlocked? If so, back it down to stock for further testing, as the OC may not be stable. Test your RAM using Memtest86+.
That's one of the cheaper MSI motherboards; those have a reputation for weak VRMs. Are you able to check your VRM temps? Make sure there is good airflow over your mobo; one weakness of liquid coolers is that they do nothing for the motherboard.
Take the side off your case and point a common household fan into it while testing. If the problem is alleviated, make sure you have good airflow through your case, and either switch to an air cooler or get something like an Antec Spot Cool and aim it at the VRMs.

I tried to get Memtest86+ to work but couldn't. I don't have a usb available to put it on. I ran the standard windows memory test though and it did not detect anything.
For the airflow I have two fans at the from of my case blowing air over it and a fan pulling air out next to it too. Also there is two above from the water cooler pulling air into the system through the radiator, that goes over the motherboard. So I think the airflow might be ok?
I don't have a small fan to be able to test it but if I get an antec spot cool, do i need to point it near the vrm that is near the ram?
Also this isn't a long term problem, it just started recently. I have had the PC for around two years now, hoping for two more without any replacement parts or such. So if it hasn't done this in two years is the vrm still a likely problem? I am just curios and want to understand the situation better. Thanks for helping.

I do have one in another system. I have a 430w corsair psu in a box. The PSU in the other PC is a 600w Corsair PSU.

I figured, it was the original PSU for the PC before it got the 7950. The 7950 came when the second pc was built, along with a new PSU. I haven't had it effect any other games though. So I think I might wait it out another 1-2 years and then replace the rig with a new one.

You might try underclocking your video card, to reduce its power usage. If that solves your problem, then most likely your PSU is no longer able to provide its output cleanly due to capacitor aging, and will need to be replaced. Poorly filtered power can cause component damage, particularly over time.

Ok I will try that when I can.

Can you do the next to see if it gives more info about those temps,

Download the next program,

http://www.hwinfo.com/download32.html

You can open hwinfo32,after that open the sensor window by marking sensors=V,after click run,,then click at the bottom "Logging start" ,after that choose a name and place for the log.like Hwinfolog at your desktop.Leave it open and do game/stresstest or whatever you do until a crash. The log will end at that point but will be saved.
After the restart upload the log to a site without to much crap (!),for instance dropbox, and leave a link to it here. You could also look at the log yourself with either excel or libre office calc.
