Hello, alright so I built a rig not to long ago but I am very dissapointed in performance, I had a Amd phenom II x6 1035t and radeon 270x, I sold my cpu my original plan was too buy the amd fx 6300 as it's a little better and newer chip, but I'm stuck, I play gameplay and edit for YouTube gameplay commentarys, everyone always says get and i5... I don't know what to get.. I was thinking a i7 and z97 board which I will have to wait about 2-3 weeks to get... I don't know if it's worth buying a new mobo and cpu for the performance it has or just buy a fx6300 and stick with my current ta970 board? Any help is appreciated

I would go with a i7 and a z97 board, it's totally worth it for video editing, the AMD series sucks for video editing because AMD is focused on cheap prices and cheap quality, no offense.

If I were you I would just grab an 8350 and use your current board since it supports it. You should see a nice bump in performance and the 8 cores will help out with what your trying to do.

The i7 of course would be faster but for the price and the difference in performance I would stick with the 8350.

What is your actual budget for cpu + motherboard? You will not be disappointed with a new i5 or i7. Also, overclocking is NOT necessary with an i5 or i7. Save yourself a lot of money by not bothering with it. Get something like an i5 4590 and a H97 motherboard and it would be great. If you really want an i7, look at the Xeon e3-1230v3 or 1231v3.

Or the 8320 and then just OC it the perform on par as the 8350.

Don't be a fan boy. That is an ignorant and incorrect statement.

Let me add that AMD and Nvidia both use TSMC for a majority of their fabrication. So if amd is cheap quality then your nvidia card is cheap quality. Read before you post artard.

The AMD 6300 series is a nice budget processor, but it is a budget processor. Of course its slower than the intels you are looking at. The price difference alone should explain that. If you were to get an 8300 series from amd, you would see a drastic difference. If I were in your shoes, I would save a couple hundred bucks, get an 8320 with a nice heatsink and just use that. Intels are amazingly fast and nice, but you have to pay alot for it. In my experience, you need a very high end I7 to compete with the 8300 series processors. I don't think an I5 is a bad choice, but the 8320 will be faster if you match it with nice memory at the right speeds (1866).

We'll I just want the best preoance but not too pricey... Why a h97 board? Then in the future I won't be able to get maybe 5th gen or higher... I just don't want to have to upgrade at least 2-3 years... I'm kinda tight on money

H97 won't be compatible for 5th gen

I'd say go for the FX8350 has eight cores running on 4ghz at stockspeed (and can be overclocked greatly) and it does a similar job on desktop operations as an i7 3770K. It's also great for doing some extensive gaming and even editing at the same time

5th gen is Broadwell, and H97 will be compatible. Broadwell will, most likely, not be much faster than Haswell, to justify the switch, unless you are upgrading from a Pentium, or i3, to an i5 or i7.

Yes the H97 will be compatible with the 5th gen. I don't know why you thought it wouldn't be.

What is your budget for cpu and motherboard?
