Why would the temps drop from stock setting? Also Can the Power saving cause a freeze from the volts moving around and going to low?
I have a random freezing problem I have been chasing. checked RAM, HDD, and PSU. After I did all of this i noticed there vcore volts were all over the place. Put everything in Bios to manual and disabled the turbo mode. Core Temps before under load and Prime95 would hit mid-to-high 50C and socket would be cooler then core??? Now that i have put bios in manual and put the multiplier up to 4.0 Ghz i have had cooler core temps and higher socket temps. In prime95 core hit 48C and socket got up to 51C. From what I have read these are very good temps. I am have had no freezing since i have done this and the computer seems to be so much faster.

SO is the temps dropping from stock settings normal and could that have been my freezing problem?

Did you increase the fan curve? Also, your temps dropping after an overclock is an amazing thing, provided it's true and not some kind of software error (which I highly doubt it is) you're golden.

I didn't not change the fan setting they are the same setting as when i had everything set stock. I have a couple HWmonitoring programs to check temps with I don't just trust one. I don't think it is an error.
Do you think the power saving stuff changing the volts could cause the random freeze.
thanks for the reply etorpine.

Prime95 has been known to cause freezing, try using HeavyLoad or another CPU stress test and see if the issues persist with freezing. I'm also not too sure about changing the volts netting lower temps like that, it's slightly unusual in my opinion. Then again I overclocked my CPU a good bit by BARELY changing the voltage and I've been told that isn't normal, too. Overclocking is a hit and miss world, my friend.

Sorry if I was not clear! It has not froze since I overclocked it. The computer has never froze in a stress test. It has only froze once during gaming. This was all when in the stock modes from the Bios. All the power saving things where on and turbo mode. During the stock setting is when the volts moving all around the lowest i seen it go 0.89ish.

Hm, odd. I'd just go about your normal activities for a few days to a week and if all's still well don't stress it and leave the overclock.
