GPU is 50c Idle and crashes at full load? HELP!!

Hello, i just installed my MSI 7970 Twin Frozr 3 gpu into my rig in an open air environment and when the card is idle its at 50c??? When the fans are on 100% its drops to 47c? Is this a problem with the graphics card? When i run the heaven benchmark my pc crashed under the heat!

pls help!

Hi everyone, I dont want to removed the cooler as it will void my warranty. I have down clocked the gpu to 1000Mhz and the problem still persists.
I have a XFX 550w 80+ PSU and i do plan on getting a EVGA supa nova 750 in a week or so. Are you sure the PSU is the problem. When i ran the Heaven benchmark my temps shot up to like 87c in like 3 seconds, Is it still the psu?

I have AMD FX 8320
8GB DDR3 Ram
1 ocz agility 3 128gb
1 seagate baracuda 1tb

probably bad air circulation in your pc box. Create a good Pull/push system. Front fan sucking air into case. Or If your case has a fan mounting by the GPU (side of case) add a fan there, expelling hot air created by gPU. Your CPU creates a lot of heat too, get it out of the case.

BTW, which case?
