Are these power supplies enough?

I have a 990FXA-UD3 with AMD FX-8350 4.0 GHz (no overclock). I also have a Sapphire Toxic R9 280x card. I want to run all this with a 750W gold power supply. Is it enough power?

I also have 2 more 280x cards I want to run with a second 750W gold power supply. Is that one enough power as well?

I don't want to have the system shut off randomly and not know if it's the power supply or something else. Thanks in advance!

As long as they're decent supplies (Going by the 80+ Gold rating I would say they are) then yes it's more than enough.

PSUs often get overstated and while it's desirable to leave a bit of headroom for efficiency sakes, most of the time a modern system with a single GPU card can be powered using a small one.
(As far as I know the 280x is a 250w TDP card. So, 125w CPU + 250w, most other components such as hard drives only sip single digit wattage).

The best way I like to do it is total up the maximum TDP of all of your components, mainly the CPU and GPU, and compare it to the power supply capacity.
Unless you get a cheap one that splits the 12v rail into two, it's going to be able to power it.

If you're planning to buy...

If you're planning to buy 2 more cards later (Honestly, wouldn't advise triple crossfire personally) then why don't you just invest in a 1200w or 1500w supply? Save some space n' stuff.

Here's a video from JayzTwoCents on YouTube explaining things a bit better:

for a single r9 280x 750 watt is more than enough a good 600 watt psu would be enough..but if u want 2 crossfire 2x r9 280x then i will say minimum 850 watt it would still run on 750 watt but u may face some power issues.. hope this helps..

I have the power supplies and cards from a mining rig, everything worked ok but I had a slow processor and no hard drive, DVD drive,USB, etc. Now I'm converting to a gaming rig and want to make sure everything is okay.

The power supplies are Rosewill Capstone 750W 80 Gold Plus PSU's. I'm planning on one monitor per graphics card.

The monitors would be powered completely separately using their own power brick.

In that case, they will work. Unless you're using a full tower case I'm not sure how you're going to cram them in, but goodluck with that regardless!

DVD drives, USB peripherals and Hard Drives sip very few watts. To give you an idea, I use a Western Digital Black mechanical hard drive which, to my memory, only sips about 6-8w.

Bottom line. Those two supplies will power that system perfectly.

Thanks to both of you. I thought Distello's answer was more clear, so I marked him correct. But I up-voted your posts. :)
