I have an intel core duo e8400 oc'ed to 3.6 ghz. I have kingston hyperx blue oc'ed to 1600 mhz. (8gb). I went modest for the overclocks. I have a 700 watt power supply. I believe it is 80+ rated but I cannot tell. I have an nvidia Ge force 9600 Gt graphics card.
I have $250 but I do not know what to spend it on. I would like to be able to play games like BF4 at somewhat decent frames at 720p. I am thinking of the r9 280, but should I go for a kaveri apu? Should I get a really cheap Am3+ mobo and cpu and then get an r9 270? I would like my best bang for the buck for fps. Thanks guys.

dont go for a kaveri. not worth the money really.

you could go with just a GTX 750 ti and get a 128gb ssd for under 215 bucks and youd be satisfied

I don't really care about ssds, kind of a last thing to upgrade thing for me. If I have $250 shouldn't I just get a r9 280 (for 200) deal with the bottleneck until I get another 50-150 bucks then get a new platform?

you really need about 250 to experience a new platform to the fullest of its abilities. Like a FX-8320 and a 990FX mobo costs about that much with a cooler.

yeah you should have some decent bottleneck with a 280 on that e8400 but if u can deal with it until u get a new platform thats what id do.
