I saw two PowerColor HD 6970's on pcpartpicker today and am wondering why one is $250 and the other is $100
They are two different models:
PowerColor AX6970 2GBD5-2DH
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004OXTNVQ/?tag=pcpapi-20
PowerColor AX6970 2GBD5-2DHE
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
I couldn't find anything spec wise different.

How much is your budget?
I believe Amazon's price isn't upated, that's the old price.
The 2DH has a faster memory clock 1375MHz vs 1250MHz on 2DHE

One's on amazon sold by a third party, who knows why but it looks like gouging. First amazon always has higher prices but also is the 6970 still in production? He might be jacking price up cus it's hard to find, even though it's inferior to many newer cards.

Umm, is 40 fps on high settings in Crysis 3 bad for only $100?? I'm considering them because they are on the top of passmark's GPU value chart. And yes I know just because a GPU has a high passmark score doesn't mean it performs well in games. I researched benchmarks for the 6970...

Probably nothing, they just like the letter E.
Also I've mentioned before the "E" has a slower memory clock 1250MHz on the 2DHE
The 2DH has a memory clock of 1300MHz

Well I'd rather pay $100 and overclock it 50MHz than spend $250... Thanks for pointing that out though. I'm considering a R9 270x instead, or waiting for Nvidia's GTX 800 series.

At $100 the best you can get is a R7-260x. The 270x is around $195, even the 270 is way over $100

The 6970 is better than the R7 260x in most games. Except for TDP and being newer.

Check slickdeals, yesterday tigerdirect had a 270x for 159 with an extra 15 off coupon. It sold out fast but you can find a 270x for under 175 if you are patient.
