Hi guys im in a strange predicament.
I recently received 2 motherboards w/ cpu's already on them:
1. Z68 board (sandy bridge) with i5 3570k (ivy bridge)
2 B75 board (ivy bridge) with i3 2100 (sandy bridge)
Now, since its new future owners* will not be overclocking, is it a good idea to just pair the cpu+ motherboard from their respective generations?
Do the possible advantages (if any) of pairing the same gen, outweigh the disadvantages of losing the extra features of the z68 + i5 combo?
These will be going to my brother and nephew. These are their needs:
* Brother: Work stability (photo + video editing)
Nephew: School, surfing, light casual gaming (hearthstone & league).
