Hello fellows,

After 3 years of faithful service, my Antec H20 620's pump finally seems to have given up. It started making some weird noises some months ago, but kept running. Three days ago the fan started making some loud and horrible noises. Soon the pump started making some loud noises, so I promptly force shut down my rig to prevent permanent CPU damage.

I bought the NH-D15 a week ago and recently found out my CPU socket is not supported out of the box (see title). I sent a request to get a NM-I3 bracket as promised on Noctua's website; they ask for an invoice of the motherboard and the Noctua heatsink, which I supplied. The Amazon invoice, however, is wrong as it states that my socket is lga1156, when it is in fact lga1366. They responded saying that my socket is lga1156, which is supported, so no bracket. I replied with gigabyte's page of my product, which clearly states it is 1366, but I haven't heard back from Noctua. Now I have a rather large paper weight and my rig is another, even larger paperweight. So much for their famously great CS.

Nevertheless, am I wrong somewhere? Am I reading wrong somewhere and lga1156 and 1366 are compatible? These are the pages I used to research the issue.

Solution
They do have different hole spacings as I have a Tuniq 120 Extreme that supports LGA775 LGA115x and LGA1366 three different sets of notches. Pretty sure LGA1366 was the largest.

Thanks for the responses guys. Blackbird, that is precisely what I didn't want to do; the NH-D15 is already an expensive air cooler, adding more money just to make it work hurts since I am not exactly swimming in money. This cooler was the better solution though, seeing as my memory modules have those big heatsinks and I wanted to support Noctua because of their high quality. Too bad their customer service is not as good as the hype suggests.

Anyway, it seems I was correct in my assessment, LGA1366 won't work out of the box. I'll have to shell out more money for the bracket. -1 to Noctua customer support, shame. Thanks for the responses guv'nos.

It seems they finally understood the problem and they sent me a bracket. This is kind of useless though, because I did as Blackbird suggested and bought a bracket myself :|. Ultimately doesn't matter, though; I'll use the second bracket in case I finally get the money to build my media center + dedicated game server. Since they were kind enough to send me the bracket, I take back what I said about their customer service - it is not bad, it is good. It's just a bit slow. Thanks for the help guys - I don't know who to give the best answer, but I guess I'll give it to Eximo since my question here was whether I was wrong in my assessment that LGA1366 is not compatible OTB with the NH-D15.

Cheers
