Mini ITX Build, around 1200

Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my old PC (AMD Phenom II Black, GTX 260) with a new MinI ITX build. I'll be using it for gaming and work (concurrently, my work is to run matlab simulations 24/7, so it needs to be able to handle that) mostly. I've been using my current build for about 5-6 years now, and want to be able to get that same lifespan out of this new one. It doesn't need to run everything at ultra 5 years from now, but I would hope that I could play new games if I so desired. I'll likely not go above 1440p dual monitor (currently using 1080p dual monitor) until I build the system after this one.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor (188.99@NCIXUS)
CPU Cooler: ??
Motherboard: Asus Z87I-Deluxe Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard (152.98@SuperBiiz)
Memory: Kingston HyperX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (194.63@Amazon)
Storage: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (74.99@Amazon)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (99.99@NCIXUS)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 770 2GB TWIN FROZR Video Card (299.99@Amazon)
Case: Cooler Master Elite 130 Mini ITX Tower Case (34.99@Newegg)
PSU: XFX 650W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (69.99@NCIXUS)
Optical Drive: Asus BW-12B1ST/BLK/G/AS Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer (59.98@OutletPC)

Total: 1176.53 after rebates

I know 8GB is enough for gaming, but will it suffice if I'm running numerical simulations in the background at the same time? I'm happy to pay more if I'm going to get significant longevity out of the system, but I'm not a terrible stickler for graphics, as long as it's not lagging horribly. I'll be using wi-fi, so I need the motherboard to have good onboard wi-fi. I'm not sure what kind of CPU Cooler to use, I'm thinking water cooling may be best since the case will be very cramped.

Thanks for any input.

Hey, looks like a nice build. I think the case is a bit boring. If your going through the trouble of ITX, which I think is a great idea, why not build something a bit more neato. I built on a lian li t7, which was fun, looks great and leaves a lot of room for custom water cooling. I really like the silverstone non box looking cases also. If your really planning on making this system last, why not spend the extra $30-40 on the k model cpu to do some wicked overclocking? Might also consider 4gb memory on the 770 if your doing the dual monitor 1440p sometime soon. Also worth considering the 800 series should be arriving sometime soon...speeeccullattion commence lol! As for the CPU cooler, I really recommend custom water cooling loops, but you will need much research. Of course if you plan to overclock the gpu and maybe opt for the k series cpu, then water cool. Things will be tight in that box so a large aftermarket air cooler may not be optimal. I understand you don't care much for graphics, so you may void any of the gpu stuff i blabbered about. I highly recommend the k model cpu thou. GL and HAVE A FUN
