Hi! I Have a Sony Vaio VGNNW350F been water damaged. Starts & screen stays black (CTRL+ALT+DEL flickers screen a tad lighter for a moment). Also have a VPCEA21FX now (not as good). I'd like to use some programs off the VGN & need to know if I switch the HD from the VGNNW350F into the VPCEA21FX would my programs be available? What happens if I switch the HD's? Would there be any problems with the VPCEA21FX from switching the HD's back & forth? Already using the VGN's HD externally but would really like to get to the programs.

Both HD's are 320GB, 6400rpm, Serial ATA

Both laptops are Win 7 64-bit; OS MS Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Bad Laptop VGNNW350F; Intel Core 2 Dual Processor T6600; Speed 2.20GHz; Front Side Bus Speed: 800MHz; L2Cache: 2MB; Memory Installed: 4GB (2GBx2); Type/Speed: DDR2/800MHz

Good Laptop VPCEA21FX; Intel Core i3 - 350M Processor; Speed: 2.26GHz; L3 Cache: 3MB; Memory Installed: 4GB (2GBx2); Type/Speed: DDR3/1066MHz

Thanks! Laura

It might boot - the issue is going to be drivers. You might get lucky and get it to boot, and then be able to update the drivers.

I would let the laptop dry out really well (best way - boil in the bag instant rice added to a large zip lock bag with the laptop - it should draw out all of the moisture - this could take up to a week....unsealing the bag puts you back at day 1).

Thanks Ron, good feedback but I guess I should have stated the VGN has been dry for a while (it happened last year). In a way I hoped someone might tell me the screen thing was a minor fix.

I'll await any other replies that may come along.
