So this PC was connected to the router and working fine before, now i have moved it to another location in the house and am using a new wire to connect it, a longer one (quite long, dont think over 100m)

I wired the Ethernet cable up myself, T568B on the end that plugs into the router, since thats how the other end of the cable is wired when it terminates in a female wall socket. (which has a male cable 2m connected to it, pc connected on the other end of that)

I have tested the cable with a signal checker, says its fine. Although i guess that just checks signal and not if i have the right wiring setup.

I got sporadic internet once, most of the time PC says unidentified network, no internet access. sometimes no network at all.

Nothing has changed except the cable. Im really lost as to what to try next...

Xbox doesnt get network either, nor my other PC. So i dont think this is a software problem...

Am i wiring the cable right? I hear all sorts about crossover and such...

Going to a router or switch you should have everything wired straight through. When you say you used a "signal checker", what make and model of tester did you use? Did it show that you had 8 wires straight through? You would need a tester with two pieces so that you plug a passive (or active on expensive testers) remote on the far end of the cable and the unit in your hand sees the remote end and verifies all wires simultaneously.
