Hey everyone,
I want to get some opinions on whether i should upgrade my Motherboard or graphics card. My specs are below and in the link to my build log. For the motherboard I am looking at the ASUS A88x Pro or the Gigabyte GA-F2A88x-UP4. As for the GPU I have not made up my mind. I know eventually i will want to crossfire/SLI 2 cards. I am on a bit of a budget and would like to stay in the $150 price range. so any suggestions would be great. Leaning towards the R9 270 cards

The whole crossfire situation is good, but presents it's own problems. For one, it makes ALOT more heat and since it's in close-quarter scenarios, it's multiplied. Also, the GPU's will always be fighting to render each frame, so it's like a kid and his buddy sorting toys out. Chances are, they will pick up the smae thing every once in a while, then both have to decide ho' sorts, or "renders" in the crossfire/SLI scenario. Also, it takes alot of power to run and starins the system and PSU alike. the last problem is the overwhelming number of...

yea definitely want good gaming performance. I know a motherboard wont improve much for gaming. But I am running the ASUS A55BM-e motherboard its ok does the job, just looks really really goofy in my new case lol

Also what would you recomend for around the $150-$200 range

haha yea i just checked. And deleted the comment to reply and appologize for that. i swore it was there. again my appologize. that you for bringing it to my attention. i did add it to the log as well. And a power supply is not going to improve my gaming experience. specially when mine is just fine for what i use it for. i do not need a 1000w psu

The best GPU for a low price is an R7 270x in the $200 range, a motherboard is a waste.... GPU upgrade is better. Oh, and DO NOT crossfire, getting a single high-powered GPU is a lot more efficient and less driver problems in general... Hope it helped! :-D

yea the only reason i have even thought mother board is for Overclocking. So crossfire and SLI are not as far along as they should be? I mean if you dont wanna go into detail then thats ok

i never said anything about problems with performance. i asked for opinions on upgrades. You really need to take your time and read what is said before jumping to some crazy off the wall assumption.

Also, it takes alot of power to run and starins the system and PSU alike. the last problem is the overwhelming number of people having problems getting SLI and crossfire to work properly, or even to work at all! So for those reasons, I would say a single, higher-end card would reduce strain, produce less heat, make the system more simple and effective, and will also help drivers be at their best performance! The motherboard is fine, and upgrading it wouldn't help as much as a new GPU honestly. I hope this all helped! If it did, pick the best answer!
