This would be for gaming at high settings and for the possibility of future upgrades. I already have a SDD and couple HDDs I'm salvaging from another computer. Any advice is welcomed, thanks! This is my first post here and my first time building my own machine!

Thanks for the quick response, damn! Do you have any suggestions on making it run smoother on high-very high settings?

Not to bag on legend, but youCAN run that on ultra on any game on the market. I have an R7 260x, which is lower power then yours, and I run Thief, Battlefield 4, and many more great games on ultra smooth as butter! So yes, you will get at LEAST 40+ FPS on ultra with that GPU.

I alaways assume 60 fps as a standard for smooth, what model is your 260x?

CPU is weak, GPU is very weak.

"Worth" has so many factors:

1. Worth spending more than a PS4 for lower gaming performance - NO
2. Worth it because you do lots of other stuff on your PC - YES
3. Worth spending $1000 to equal a PS4 - NO
4. Worth spending $1200-1500 to play on 3 monitors or higher res - depends on how much you game
5. Worth (4) and do lots of other stuff - yes

etcetc

The price you had for that mobo was way too high, not sure what was up with that since that is usually a $70 mobo.

Edit: Don't know where you are located but if you have a microcenter near you they have some pretty good CPU/mobo bundles that are in-store pickup only http://www.microcenter.com/site/brands/intel-processor-bundles.aspx

I have an R9 270X and it runs every game max settings or with minimal AA as that tends to eat up VRAM and some FPS. I run Metro: LL smoothly at max settings and run Battlefield 4 50+fps max (60+ with 2x MSAA). I have other games but those seem to be commonly accepted as some of the more demanding games.

@slayzombie , wow see this? a better gpu can't run games as well as you do, how can you run it in ultra? Do you use steroids?

If you were me would you wait for the holidays when prices drop and new tech comes out (presumably)?

Well if you are planning a road trip to southern California anytime soon you can go to the Microcenter in Tustin, that's where I will be grabbing some stuff when I go down there to visit family.

My opinion on the holidays thing is sort of mixed. It's like sure you'll get good deals on stuff, but then the next one might have better ones then one after might have better deals, and it's just the waiting game after that.

It just depends on how badly you need something or how badly you want something.
