specs:
Mobo - asrock z87e-itx

ram - Kingston HyperX Blu 8GB (1x8 GB Module) 1600MHz

Cpu - i5 4690 3.5Ghz (w/ stock cooler)

psu - SeaSonic G Series SSR-550RM ATX12V / EPS12V

gpu - MSI N250GTS TwinFrozr (reeeaally old haha)

case - Fractal design node 304 (w/ stock case fans)

so just starting off this is my first pc I've ever built. the reason the gpu I'm using is so old is because it was given to me and I just wanted to see if it still worked. so i put the cpu on my mobo, seated the ram and put in the gpu and did my first test boot, there was no noises or video signal detected but after about 5-7 seconds all the fans were spinning.

After reading online for a bit i saw some people said to take out the gpu and try again, to see that was the problem. so i did, and turned on the computer once more but still there was no signal to the monitor, but fans and everything else turned on after a few seconds. then i read to try reseating the ram, so i took out the ram and placed in back in. same result. then i read to try a different ram slot, so i moved it to the other slot. this time when i pressed the power button nothing happened at all. now nothing seems to work and im afraid i shocked some component when moving my case or something! can anyone help me? like i said this is my first time building a pc so im pretty lost right now.

Solution
Verify all power connectors plugged into the motherboard.

If that doesn't do it, then power off, unplug, then Clear CMOS.
Usually the RAM modules need to be in a specific slot so most likely you put it in one that is not supposed to be used when only having 1 ram module, just put it back to it's original slot, if still doesn't boot, try starting without the RAM module, you should get the beep code corresponding to RAM failure (just so you make sure mobo etc is working fine).

Then reseat the RAM to the appropriate slot, it should be indicated in your manual.
