Want To Replace CPU, Need Help

Hey guys, the title pretty much says it all. I want to replace my current CPU to a newer one!
I need help finding a new one and better one, budget isn't really an issue, just nothing that will destroy my wallet.

My current CPU is AMD Phenom II x4 955 Black Edition

Other Specs:
MOBO: M5A97 r2.0
GPU: R9 270x Sapphire
Memory: 16GB DDR3 1600 MHz
PSU: 620 watt Antec

Your help is very much appreciated and suggestions are very much appreciated!

I agree, but he already has a good AM3+ board, and it would take buying a new motherboard, reinstalling Windows, and then the new CPU. So just upgrading to a FX-8350 is the best choice in this situation.

Thanks for all the help, I will eventually be making an intel build, but I'm out of a job and want to focus on my current rig at the moment. Everyone here has been very helpful with their suggestions! Thank you and I will always come back if I need more help and help others if I can :)
