So basically you want to create a whole new computer with the same case? Sure, why not! Just make sure the mobo fits the case and that it is compatible with it.

A Micro ATX motherboard should work.

Sorry for noobines but just to be sure If I only get a Micro atx board with everything else being stock I can achieve an over clock?

I know obviously that I will need a new copy of windows.

Prebuilt PC's usually have a locked CPU which is still possible to overclock, it's just kinda different. According to the HP website, your HP's case is a mid-size ATX case, which means it would probably hold either an ATX motherboard or a mATX motherboard. I'd just get the same size motherboard as what's already in there.

As long as you get the same type of motherboard, or at least a motherboard which isn't lacking any used slots or anything like that on your current motherboard. For example, if you hypothetically had a 6GB RAM desktop which was 3x2GB RAM sticks and your stock motherboard had 4 RAM slots and your new motherboard only had 2 RAM slots, you would only be able to get to 4GB RAM, using the same stock RAM cards.
