my newly built computer is working fine except for the problem listed above. i can run it for hours then shut it down, turn it on the next day and there is no problems.
everytime i unplug my computer from the outlet or switch off the power supply (its a new build so spending a lot of time working inside of it) when i turn it on i get a messege that the bios has been reset and asking me to load optimized defaults, i lose any changes i made in the bios and the clock is always way off.
i did some reading around and this seems to occur to other people when their cmos battery goes bad, what are the chances a brand new mobo came with a bad battery?

my buddy had a board that kinda did this asus sabertooth we never figured it out so he got a new board and put all the parts from off the sabertooth and it all worked fine so it was the board that was bad in some way
funny thing was if he removed the vid-card it would hold the bios but if he left the card in it would do like you say but the card on a new board did not do nothing but work fine with no issues so it was down to calling it a bad asus board

something that kind of has me put of is i pulled up the supported memory list and the ram i bought isnt on there, dont know if that could cause the problem, ram im using is http://www.amazon.com/ADATA-USA-Series-1866MHZ-AX3U1866...
the 2400 1600 1300 etc etc versions all show on approved list but not the 1866's im using, just wondering if its for lack of updating the list or could actually be important

the gigabyte support rep i have been in contact with says its possible the psu could be the problem claiming that since i only encounter the problem when i unplug from the wall or switch off the psu power is when the bios resets that the psu isnt 'holding its charge' is that even a real thing?
psu is a brand new corsair ax760. i contacted the reseller and they claim the turnaround process is 15-30 days for a replacement (lol, mexico) since the comp runs fine im just going to ride it out till an x99 matx comes out, just want to make sure the psu isnt a possible culprit and the gigabyte support rep is FOS

that should not affect the bios as long as the battery is good I got computers unplugged for weeks or longer and when I do use them it still has the same bios settings as when I last used it ..
funny thing is that my buddy I posted above with this also had a corsair hx 750 in his but it was put on the new board and did not have any issues on it

Intel Core i7-4790K 4.00GHz 8MB 350 MHz / 1250 MHz Haswell Refresh 22nm C0 88W 100 F4
with that chip your bios needs to be f4
