So I just finished building my PC until I realized that I have no way to get internet. I am a huge noob on all this stuff and need some help to figure it all out.

My PC is sitting a room across the hall away from where the modem and router are. This means I cannot connect Ethernet without having a loooooong cable going across the hallway which I guess could be an option but I would prefer to stay away from it. Let me know if this option is best!

I know I could get a wireless adapter (either USB 3.0 or PCi E x1) and I would prefer this if I knew what kind of price I would need to spend for good speeds. Let me know what costs and performance wireless adapters are.

Another option I thought about (but again I am a noob with networking and not sure how it works) is to get another modem or router to put in my room and connect with Ethernet that way. How would this work and it would it be more cost effective than the wireless adapter?

Thanks to everyone that is more experienced with this than me and let me know what you think!

Admirable
Usb adapters are cheaper than pci-e adapters, i dont know why, and the problem with those is that the pci-e x1 is usually down the pci-e x16 slot, and if you are using a card that requires two slots of space, you cant fit the pci-e adapter, see if ou can fit an pci.e adapter in that build, if not, well, get a usb adapter.

My motherboard comes with 3 PCI-e 2.0 slots one above three x16 slots. Looks like it would fit in the bottom one away from my GPU which is on the top x16 slot.
So the PCI-e are more effective than the USB?

Is powerline really stable now? Reviews on products tell me otherwise, but I guess the wireless adapter reviews are just the same. I will look at getting a powerline because they do look nice but my only concern is that the wireless connection is only going to a room across the hall which means it won't get much of any interference so would it be faster to do wireless or powerline?
