Hi everyone, I have a Sapphire 7950 Dual-X video card, replacing my HIS 7870 graphics card and I recently ran into an issue during the installation such as encountering the black screen after the Windows 7 logo start up. I have Googled solutions in attempt to fix the problem, still no luck.

However, I'm relieved that it isn't faulty since I went over to my friend's house earlier today to test my video card on his PC to see if it worked, so I know from what I believe isn't faulty, but something with my PC that isn't allowing to detect it; possibly a software/drivers error.

For some reason, the video card only works if I leave the video card drivers uninstalled and it appears as "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter". If I install the drivers and restart it, it goes black screen. I've been using a DVI to VGA adapter for my screen and I only see an HDMI port, never tried it so I'll give it a shot.

I'll share my PC specs incase if you need it.

Motherboard: ASUS M5A97
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB
Processor: AMD FX 4100
Power Supply: Cooler Master RS-600-ACAA-B1 i600 600W Active PFC 80
Current Video Card I'm using right now: HIS Radeon HD 7870 IceQ Turbo Edition

Solutions I used in attempt to fix it:

- Deleted all of my drivers such as the 7870's through device manager and AMD catalyst drivers in safe mode, then installed the 7950 with the newest Catalyst program and driver. Restarted, no luck.
- Used Driver Sweeper to remove the remaining drivers in safe mode, restart and still get the same results, so no luck.
- Switched two of my RAM sticks in two different slots to see if they were faulty, none were faulty and still worked good, still no luck.
- Set my BIOs to default and restarted, same results and still no luck.

That's the rest solutions I've used for now, anymore tips or help would mean the most to me. Thank you! :)

Splendid
Try your video card in the 2nd PCIe x16 slot and see if you still get that black screen.
Also AMD drivers are mostly universal. Searching for 7870 or 7950 takes you to the same driver.
Update your motherboard bios might also help, but that is only if you know how to and all else fails.

How do I check my current BIOS to see if it is up to date and if it isn't up to date, can I get the links to the latest files? I'm really new to this sort of thing.

I also tried both PCIe x16 slots with an HDMI cord. No luck. :(
