I made a thread a couple months ago and got pretty close to buying a pc, but decided to wait until i had a solid 1000$ to build it. I have that now, and i've been researching, asking around, etc. and I think I've finally come up with a good build. But it's finally come down to Nvidia vs. AMD. Without saying any more I'll post the links to both

AMD: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/RKkdGX
NVidia: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3ddXVn (They didn't have the actual GPU on pcpartpicker, but the newegg link is in there at the bottom)

Anyways, I've heard the r9 290 is 16.3~% better performing than the 770, but at the same time, i've also heard the 290 is hot, loud, and the drivers are unreliable. So should I go with power or dependency?

Also, while i'm here, does the rest of the build look pretty good? Thanks a lot for the help!

EDIT: Should also mention I plan on playing pretty intensive video games with it, and also will be doing video editing. I've heard that Skyrim mods take up a lot of VRAM, so that's why I feel 3-4GB would be best

More about : build recommend

i figured the AMD would be the most liked of the 2, I've just never had an AMD card so I don't know how loud it will be or if there's anything I should do before buying. Does the whole build look solid with that?

AMD for sure, but would change the motherboard to a Z97, because for a H97 to work with that CPU, it needs a BIOS update, which cant be done unless you have a compatible CPU to do so.

This is the 2nd time I've heard about switching to a z97 board since I've shown some friends this build, I didn't know it was that serious though. Is there any specific company or model I should be getting for around the same price or is it just on an "anything with z97 in the title" basis? I know just about nothing regarding motherboards.

heres a build, since you should also change the PSU you went with, since its low quality.

for the newer CPUs you should go with a 97 chipset, if you plan on overclocking you should go for the Z version, if not the the H version would work too.

not sure what youy meant by example, but heres a list of Z97 motherboards.

http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/motherboard/#c=99&sort=a8

and yes that motherboard you showed would work fine.

ok I think I've got pretty good internals now, which one of these cases do you think would fit all of this the best? also do you think I'd need more fans or cooling? Also for the ones that come without LEDs, how hard would it be to replace the fans in them with a couple LED fans?

Here's what I picked out so far that looked good (thanks for helping me out, I am an idiot when it comes to this stuff): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
