BIOS Update Z87

I was looking on PC part picker and it said that my MSI Z87-G41 PC mate motherboard may need a BIOS update to work with my Haswell processor (Intel i5 4590). Do I need this update and if so how do I download it? does it have to be done before the OS is installed?

It may ship with the latest BIOS updated that will work with that cpu but it may not. You will need a compatible cpu to boot up and update the BIOS in the BIOS.
Better get the 9 series chipset such as H97 or Z97. If you not overclocking the cpu or plan to in the future then H97 is fine.
