i recently bought a completely new computer with the GTX 770 and skyrim runs with much more lag on this computer than my last one which had the GTX 560, with the exact same settings.

specs:
Graphics card: Nvidia GTX 770
Processor: Intel i7-4790 3.60 ghz
Ram: 16gb DDR3 2x8
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H87-D3H

Solution
Hmm that's weird. Usually it should use GPU automatically if one is recognized. Try entering BIOS (keep pressing delete key as soon as you power on... should work) or if not you can try going into the NVIDIA Control Panel (may have to download the software) as shown here: http://superuser.com/questions/231446/how-to-use-dedicated-video-card-instead-of-onboard

If your computer still boots up too quickly that you can't enter BIOS (even by presing delete key right when you hit power), then what you can do is disconnect the sata cable from the HDD and that will prevent boot up. Then you can change BIOS and then re-connect the drive...

actually its a custom design, but i found the problem, the computer is using a different graphics card, something that came with the computer somehow, and its not using the GTX 770 as a priority. i have no idea how to make it shood the gtx 770 instead of the integrated one. also i cant open up the pc bios at all, the computer boots up so fast that i snap my fingers and its open, so i dont know how to change it from the bios either.
the integrated graphics card i found is: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600
any idea what i can do?
also i tryed changing the settings directly from the game but it doesnt give me the option...

thanks guys for your help! but i called the manufacturer and he solved the problem for me. what i didn't know is that i was connecting the screen to the wrong output with the wrong type of cable. i was using one of those old cables until i got an HDMI and so i wasn't connecting the screen to the graphics card. instead it was using the integrated graphics card.
again thanks for your help!
