The fan is broken on this graphics card:

I'm planning to buy a replacement fan and cable tie it down to the heatsink. Any reason why I shouldn't? Any suggestions on what fan would be suitable? I'm thinking something along the lines of a Gelid Silent 8, connected via molex and left running at 100% fan speed.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can buy off ebay a bran new fan replacement you know for the card with the right connector to connect to the 5770 card.

They cost a bout £11

All you do is measure from the dot in the center of the old fan to the longest bit on the fan blade.

Then depending on the mounts measure, from the center of one hole to the other for all three for the distance in mm for the mounting.

Most fans are about 65mm to 75mm on a graphics card.

My card has an aftermarket heatsink, please see the link in my original post. The stock fan won't work with it.
