APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: The closer the better

BUDGET RANGE: BRL $850, about USD $370

USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming (mostly playing PvZ: Garden Warfare, Borderlands 2, Diablo III and Hearthstone at the moment, but would like to play Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor when it's released)

CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY: Sapphire HD 4670 1GB and C3 Tech 500W 500R VE (DSA-500VE) PSU

OTHER RELEVANT SYSTEM SPECS: AMD Phenom II x4 940 ~3 Ghz, ASUS M4A78, 4GB RAM, Windows 7 x64

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Whatever, I will probably order it from Paraguay where it's much cheaper (I live near it)

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Brazil

PARTS PREFERENCES: I have used AMD/ATI cards since my first PC, but have nothing against Nvidia. However I would like to use the new Mantle technology if possible since I don't plan on upgrading my CPU that soon. No manufacturer preference

OVERCLOCKING: No idea if it would help

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Only if possible/helpful with current HD 4670 + new GPU

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1280x1024, but I want to buy a 1920x1280 soon

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I have felt the need to upgrade since stuttering on Borderlands 2 began, MSI Afterburner increasing fan speed reduced the need for a while. Recently acquired Garden Warfare having to be played on Lowest settings increased the need again.
Would consider upgrading my motherboard, PSU and CPU too if the limitations are too high.

I have been considering the R9 280x, R9 270, R9 270x and the R7 260x, but those are not set in stone.

Thanks in advance

Presumably, your PSU has a bit of age on it so it may be beneficial to include a new unit in your upgrade --- and, nothing beats an SSD for general snappiness, so ...

I would recommend a Bronze 80+ 600w PSU, a Samsung 120GB SSD and a Radeon R9 280.

I picked the Samsung SSD because it's got a great cloning tool, pops up on sale for $75US every few weeks, and their factory in Brazil was recently burgled for $30 million worth of consumer goods :)

If I were to get the 280x, I wouldn't have enough money for another PSU. Is it better to get a 270x + new PSU then?
Not getting the SSD with this budget, I'll consider it in the future. Thanks

Will my PSU be enough for a R9 280? The GTX 760 is much more expensive.
I am also afraid my motherboard will not take it, I think the best slot I have is PCIe 2.0, aren't those 3.0?
