I've been having troubles with my video card recently. It will arbitrarily start/stop working whenever the computer turns off/restarts. Once it stops working, it resorts to my onboard and I have to keep resetting/shutting down/restarting until it detects it again in Dxdiag, wherein I will redownload the drivers for my main card only to have to restart, where it won't detect the card again. The fan is always on on the card, even when it isn't detected, so it is getting power.

System model: Acer Aspire X1700
OS: Win7 64bit.
Card: GeForce G100
Onboard: GeForce 7100/ nForce 630i

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Are you downloading the drivers from Nvidia or some stupid fixer also if this is a laptop is the graphics unit 100% compatible with your laptop?

Yes I'm downloading them from Nvidia, and it's a desktop.

Have you set your BIOS to load graphics from the PCI-E slot instead of onboard graphics?

Has it only just started? Maybe it is Windows causing the problem then which if it is I could only suggest is reinstalling all the drivers with onboard graphics turned off if you can do that?

It's been this way since early June of this year. I don't think it's a driver issue, though.

Either your PCI-E slot is defective or your card!!
