Worth waiting for DDR4?

I am building a new computer in January so i am just looking for parts right now and stuff. When will DDR4 come out and is it MUCH better than DDR3? And are X99 boards for gaming or for servers and stuff? Another X99 question, will X99 boards be for LGA1150 or for LGA2011?

Solution
X99 will be LGA2011-3 not backwards compatible with previous LGA2011 processors. These are 'workstation' class motherboards but they can be used for gaming. They offer several advantages over LGA1150 boards, more PCIe lanes, and quad channel memory. No real impact on gaming if you use a single or even two video cards. More for the people who want to do 3 and 4 video cards.

As with every new memory release the memory available now is technically faster. It will be a while before enthusiast memory catches up to the early adopters.

DDR4 looks like it will release with a base speed of 2133 with a CAS of 15, you can get DDR3 2133 with a CAS of 10 now, Or on the extreme side of things DDR3 3000 with a CAS of 12.

X99 will be another pin number. current 2011 cpu-s won't work in them (ddr4 controller) and the new 5 series cpu-s can't work with current x89 boards.

the impact of the ddr4 shouldn't be that big, i'm guessing normal 10-20% increase in performance for the cpu+chipset+ram combo. the difference between the top of the line x and next in line k series will also broaden (unlike the current 4930k - 4960x which are same core numbers/slightly lower clock) for the new ones only the 5960x will have all cores active
