Hey so I been working on my first build. Everything went pretty smooth at first. I tried building it outside of the case with only the MB/CPU/Ram, that went fine so I started building it in the case. Once I had installed all the other components, GPU,SSD,HHD,optical drive, etc. I tried to connect it to my monitor and boot every thing up, but it wouldn't work. After some trial and error I realized that it was the graphics card messing it up. When the GPU is out, and the MB uses the onboard GPU, I can boot up the computer. I tried booting up the computer and installing all the drivers and then reattaching the GPU, but once I did that the PC refused to output anything to the monitor again. I have no clue what the problem is causing the graphics card to stop the monitor, but its really annoying.

The parts I have are:
MB-AsusZ97 Pro wifi AC
CPU-Intel I7-4790K
GPU-Asus GeForce780Ti
Ram-2*8GB G.skill rip jaw series
NZXT Phantom case
HDD-Seagate Constilation ( not connected right now)
SSD-Samsung 840 Pro
OS-Win7
PSU-Thermaltake Toughpower Grand, 1200W 80plusGold

When you say it doesn't want to boot do you mean that fans don't work and nothing happens? Did you go into the bios and change from onboard to PCIe? Did you also plug in the power cables to the GPU? I'll bet you haven't gone into the bios and made the change. Default is always onboard.

I changed some features in the bios but didn't see one for PCIe's. And when I say it wont boot I mean fans will turn on but nothing will get output to the screen so I can't access the bios.

BTW thanks for the quick reply

the PSU is a 1200w 80+gold thermaltake toughpower GRAND. And sorry I wasn't clear about the booting, fans will turn on and the boot device LED doesn't turn on, but the monitor reads no signal.

wow, 1200W! and I thought my X1050 was overkill, lol! kidding aside, have you tried starting up with just the default settings on the bios? try clearing the settings first then try it with the gpu on. You might want to check on the cables connected to gpu on both ends, it could be loose or try the other PCIE connections on the PSU. some other things you could try is, try another gpu if you have a spare or test your gpu on another system. just trying to eliminate possible points of failure.

Turns out there was a problem with the PCIe slot and all I had to do was move it from the third slot to the second slot. I also had to configure it to boot with a GPU form the 2nd slot instead of the 3rd slot in the bios.
