ASUS P5N-D (socket 775)dead recommendations for replacement board to run windows 8.1

My motherboard has died . The PC was more than powerful enough for me, so don't really want spend £350 on current generation board and processor but am keen on a quick fix with another socket 775 board for my Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550. I need a board with 4 dimm slots for my 16 gb of ram and I need to know that it works with no issues with windows 8.1 and importantly is available to purchase somewhere ! All help welcome. Is this one a proven good one with Windows 8.1 ?

The problem is that LGA775 platform doesn't officially supported in win 8.1. But that doesn't mean you cant use windows 8.1. If you are using an Intel chipset motherboard, its 100% sure it will run windows 8.1 without any issues at all.
I found an even better motherboard from Intel based on Intel P45 chipset @

That board is a pretty solid one from Intel. I am not sure whether the Intel DP45SG's on-board audio controller have windows 8.1 compatible driver which you had to Google.
