Hi. i am building my first pc and i have been looking at the high end gtx cards.

My intention is to build a damn good pc that can run stuff very well for the next 3-4 years. with this in mind, would it be better to get one 780 now to last me, or get a 770 with the option to get another in SLI in a couple of years?

Which would be most futureproof (insofar as any pc can be).

Thanks :)

Solution
Get a 780 for now, that should max out all games for next year so so, after that, it'll only manage high settings or medium, that's when you sli the 780 to enhance its life

. Some games wont utilize SLI as well. Therefor you wont get the full performance of both cards. I would go for the 780Ti. One card, almost as strong as 770's SLI. Less issues and games will utilize the whole card. Plus it is just easier to manage. I would go for 770 SLI but with the new 780Ti, im just going to get that instead.

Either way would work fine. Although I think a single 780Ti will perform better than 2 770's when it comes to games utilizing multi-gpu support.

Also in the future you could get another 780Ti, which wouldn't be for a long time

Have to disagree with reply above me...no way "a single 780Ti will perform better than 2 770's when it comes to games utilizing multi-gpu support".

To your question friend, it varies on your performance expectations and gaming resolution. If youre playing on 1080p, a single 780 is the best option for you. It's an incredibly powerful GPU, and 3GB of VRAM will keep you happy up to 2560x1440. At 1080p, a single 770 is still a wonderful card.

If it were my money, I would go single 780. Goodluck, and congrats on the new parts !

i guess just on stand 1080 with a second screen not doing much. just trying to think of the future. is it worth going up but not gettinga second, or settling for the 770 and maybe getting a second in the future?
