So I'm gonna run dual 880 Tis when they come out but we might as well clear this up now cuz it looks like its always been like this in the past. I'm gonna take the stock cooler off and put a Koolance VID-NXTTN2 GPU water block on each card but I'm just wondering if the cooler is the only difference between the 780 Tis. Here's a link to the cards in question:

The only differences I see besides the cooler are the base and boost clocks so I guess my question is, are those clocks really just the card being pre-overclocked? If that's true then I can just buy the reference model with no extra cooler or higher base/boost clocks and just overclock 'em after I set the water cooling up, right?

Solution
Yes, those are just the clocks they have loaded onto the BIOS. Might as well buy the Hydro version and just use it as is. There are also a handful of other preassembled water block cards. Usually EKB blocks sold pre-mounted by OEMs. Or you can buy standard cards and add your own waterblock.

No news yet for GTX880Ti. GTX880 is supposed to be released in September, with the GTX870 likely to follow soon. Most likely be slower then the GTX780Ti as well, it is a massive piece of silicon and came directly out of the workstation class cards.

GTX880 is supposed to have a 256bit memory interface versus the 384bit of GTX780 and up, and the 512bit bus that AMD has on the 290 and up. I would wait to see benchmarks before making the call.

Solution
EVGA is wise to overclocking.
They bin their chips and put the better ones in their overclocked versions that command a better price.
You could get lucky with a standard card.
But, don't count on it.
I think you get fair value with a factory overclocked version.

If you want a water cooled card, it seems to me that you should buy one with the hydro copper cooler in the first place.
You will likely get a card with the max possible oc potential.

Thanks for the advice guys I will definitely buy the hydro copper ones seeing as it's only $70 cheaper per card to attach my own cooler, plus it comes factory overclocked and I'm pretty sure that you void the warranty when you install your own cooler and to top it off it looks way better since the water block actually covers the whole card. Thanks for the half hour response.

I don't know how to close the thread but I'm assuming that picking a post as the solution does that but if it doesn't please a moderator close this thread asap.
