AMD or NVIDIA?

Now, I am well aware of the whole 'AMD is inferior to NVIDIA' story but i want a serious answer on this. Should I get a GTX 660 or a R9 270X? I have a budget of about £150 max and want to know which of these will do the job I want it to do. I'm building my PC off the specs from watchdogs and this card is thrown around from time to time. Also does anyone why AMD has a bad rep when it comes to PCs? Thanks.

Get the 270x.

It pulls a 13% performance edge over the 660.

Also, AMD is not inferior to Nvidia, just letting you know.

AMD is not inferior. It's only inferior with the high end cards where the drivers tend to fail. The R9 270x is better (barely) but if you're concerned about the stability, get the 660 since you won't lose much performance.

From a performance point of view, both cards perform the same.
It takes a benchmark to detect any differences and that may depend on the game.
I Think people like the nvidia drivers because they come out with more regularity as needs arise.

The R9 cards are newer overclocked versions of previous cards. They tend to do well in benchmarks. Because of the higher clocks, they tend to be more power hungry and noisier.

I might suggest you find your specific candidate cards on newegg and compare the feedback from verified users.
In particular, look at the 0 and 1 egg reviews to see if they apply to you.
