Hello all!

I'm looking to upgrade my GPU and I'm locked on the MSI R9 290! However, I have an XFX 550W Pro Edition 80 Plus Bronze PSU and I was wondering if this baby will be enough to power the 290? I know AMD's site says it requires at least a 750W but I'll only be playing at 1080p and I've never seen benchmarks above 300W's at load with this card.
The rest of my system is as follows

Gigabyte-970A-DS3 mobo
Corsair Vengeance 8GB RAM (2X4GB)
AMD FX-6300 at stock clocks w/ stock cooler
1TB WD Blue HDD
Lite-On CD/DVD drive
ASUS Xonar 7.1

Thanks in advance!

Will be fine if not going more than a moderate OC.

Here is Guru3D's power supply recommendation:

AMD R9 290 - On your average system the card requires you to have a 550 Watt power supply unit.
AMD R9 290 Crossfire - On your average system the cards require you to have a 700 Watt power supply unit as minimum.
AMD R9 290X - On your average system the card requires you to have a 550~600 Watt power supply unit.
AMD R9 290X Crossfire - On your average system the cards require you to have a 800 Watt power supply unit as minimum.

If you are going to overclock GPU or processor, then we do recommend you purchase something with some more stamina.

What is the model of the PSU? If what Jack said is accurate, it depends what your 550 watt PSU is rated at. Most PSUs won't be stable at their maximum output, most can't even output their maximum wattage.
