I just bought a new gpu and psu, but when I plug the gpu in I get the "no display input" message, the screen stays black and I think the pc keeps on restarting because I can hear the sound it usually makes when it restarts.

I mention the GPU is a Gainward GT 730 and it's a PCI-e x8 and my slot is PCI-e x16. Does this count? Someone told me it's incompatible, 'cause the GPU adapter is too small for the slot and does not fill it...

If I plug in my old gpu (ATI X1550) I get image on my screen...

Configuration:
Sirtec High Power Eco 2 450W PSU
AMD 64 X2 4800+
2 GB DDR2 RAM
Asus M2V-MX SE

What can I do? I'm really desperate here. Should I return the card and get a PCI-e X16?

Thank you!

i have the same card from gainward and it works perfectly (btw i have the DDR5 version) so check if card is in place in the pci , and the pci is not a prob for the card im running it on a pci x16 even though it is a pci x8 card

The card is in place. Also the PC makes two beeps when I power it for quite some time. What can I do?
I read it has something to do with the motherboard, or BIOS... do you think resetting the CMOS will help?

it usualy means rams problems when you get two short beeps (it depends on the mobo) check this out > https://kb.iu.edu/d/afzy / try to remove all ram slots and put only 1 in one slot , then change the slot if the beep is still there

Did the RAM thing and nothing. Still black screen. When I put my old ATI X1550 the PC has image and the windows boots fine... I'm losing hope on this one. I think I'm gonna return the gpu and buy something else...
