I have had my laptop for about 3 months now and it the GeForce recommends ultra settings on many games and it worked for the first month but now i cant get more then 60 FPS on medium setting on games such as smite and LoL.

Specs:
SPECS:
GPU: GeForce GT 755M
CPU:Intel(R) Core (TM) i7-4700 @2.4 Ghz
8 gb ram
windows 8.1

I have updated everything and my temps while in game are 64 C for my cpu and around 60 for my GPU i dont think its to hot is my graphics card just not working properly?

Any Help is appreciated!

Is V-synch enabled? If your monitor is only 60Hz it will lock it to 60FPS.

Synch :D  the devs like to call it Sync though you're more correct imo :D

Do you agree that's what the problem is?

Yep , I do agree its something software based and in-game settings is software based then yes I agree , maybe its also caused by the fact that Laptop Gpus after a while get a drastic decrease in performance but that doesn't appear to be the case here.

I have turned v sync off to see if it could reach its old benchmarks and it can't

Overheating and throttling maybe? Is it full of dust? Do you play on a metal pad or on a pillow?

I play on my wooden desk I thought about it throttling but it isn't getting over 65 degrees and it does it after a fresh reboot and I just cleaned it but I've only been playing for about 2 months also

You had before and after benchmarks and it definitely dropped in performance though right?

Does it seem like the CPU or the GPU is having more trouble keeping up?

Tried lowering Anti-aliasing?

Anti aliasing is off and I'm not sure just when there is a lot going on, on the screen it drops low and it seems the gpu is having trouble i guess it might be something they added in a patch

You could install MSI Afterburner and set up the on screen display to track your CPU core usages, your GPU usage, and your RAM usage. It will help diagnose what is going on. I'm not 100% sure that it is compatible with laptop, I never tried.

it seems everything is going into the performance for the game no side programs taking up memory could there be a virus slowing down my laptop?

Which benchmark have you run? Could you run 3DMark so I can compare it to the average scores in your hardware category?

Ok I checked out other scores with your exact hardware. The scores that are higher are showing a higher Turbo clock for your CPU. Your CPU seems to have Turbo disabled. Fix that.

Let me see if I can find your manual. Unless you can use another computer to type here while accessing your BIOS? I'm good at guessing :p  What model laptop exactly?

wow useless, but at least on page 26 they tell you how to access BIOS. We can do this now or tomorrow. Not sure how long it will take. Maybe 2 minutes, maybe 20 depending on how fast it can boot back up after you go looking around in the BIOS.

The second manual is good for hardware replacements but no BIOS menus. We will find it in the BIOS though, probably in a power management section.

Go in the BIOS.

Start fishing around through the various tabs and look for something like Turbo Core, Speed Step, ect. Might be in power management or CPU section.

That's weird. Are you getting into bios by pressing F2 on start up?
m

August 10, 2014 7:04:06 PM

I wonder if there is a special combination of keys that need pressed to get advanced BIOS options. I remember the older Gigabyte BIOS used to have that crap like needing to press alt + F1 to show "advanced user options"
m
0
l
August 10, 2014 7:31:26 PM

with windows 8 it doesn't give you a f2 option you have to do a restart that takes you into the BIOS which is defiantly not the advanced settings all it is are options like turn on safe boot and random stuff.
