How do I assign an IP address

I have a Canon Prograf 5100 printer. I moved house recently and I cannot remember how it was setup before. I have BT infinity with 4 ethernet sockets. I plugged one end of the cable in socket 1 and the other end to the printer but it comes up on my screen as unable to print because it is Offline. I am not too technically minded so any help in plain English would be good. Thanks.

You may want to find the manual for the printer and set it up again from scratch, that way you'd have all the instructions right there.

If you don't have the manual, its pretty easy to search for online.
