So recently i helped a friend put togeather a computer. He upgradeed from his old mother board to a GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XM-D3H
( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... )
to go along with a AMD a8 5600 APU and an AMD MSI Radeon HD5450.
So all was good until we tried to start it up, no signal to the monitor. I'm using a VGA to VGA connection for the display. I read something about a VGA to DVI adapter working but i'm not to sure. Any help would be appreciated.

I have also red the sticky about posting /boot/no video problems and nothering seemed to work
( http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-ste... )

Did you connect the monitor to the GPU or to the motherboard? You must connect it to the GPU.

What if you remove the GPU from the PC and connect the display to the motherboard?

The CPU comes with on-board graphics and the board has a VGA port, so it should work.
Also, what happens if you disconnect the hard drive? Can you get to BIOS if you do that?

It may be the RAM causing problems, can you post your ram specs? ;)

It has 3 sticks of 1066-MHz DDR3 DIMM; non-ECC memory only

No, when we unplug the Harddrive nothing booted up. No signal.

Hmm, try using different RAM sticks in different slots, that way you can rule out faulty RAM and RAM slots.

I dont have any other ram to test out with this computer but the old motherboard worked with the ram that is in the computer now. I have also tried with one and two sticks.

Well, I'm running out of ideas. Since nothing has worked, it's possible that you've got a faulty board.

Does it give any beep codes when it is turned out? Multiple beeps? Single beep?

Take the GPU out, clear the cmos, keep the gpu out, turn on the computer with the onboard graphics. It might require an update of the bios to get the card to work. Usually with apu's the motherboard will automatically shut off the the apu graphics if it senses a gpu in the board. So, if it is sensing a gpu in the pci-e slot, the motherboard shuts off the onboard graphics, but it needs updated drivers to actually use the graphics.... YOu have a black screen.

Also, what psu does he have?

I don't know the model of the psu but its 300 - 400 watts and it worked with the old motherboard. When i was there i didn't touch the cmos, but when looking at the mother board online i couldn't find it.
( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... ) ( i found the batterie but not the jumper thing). So if i found the cmos and reset it how would i go about turning the onboard graphics on?

As for the beeps i don't think there are any beeps but i'm not sure, ill be visiting tomorrow and will check for that.

I've had problems with using too many ram sticks on my previous motherboard, try using only 2 sticks. And put the sticks on the same colored slots ;)

Also it says that your motherboard only supports 2133 / 1866 / 1600 / 1333 MHz RAM. You said you have 1066MHz.

Good point, try using faster RAM.
