Mondo weirdness with windows 7. Erased my E drive!

Hello all.
I recently started up my PC running windows 7 Ultimate, 64X with an AMD phenom, II X4 965 and it went into what looked like chkdsk mode, a black screen running command lines like "deleting invalid file entry" and "restoring orphaned file" for like 3 hours....

I thought it was a regular chkdsk function until I went to my storage drive, (E) and found it TOTALLY ERASED. All my music, movies, data, books, pics, and notes GONE.
With the exception of some files I had recently placed on my E drive everything was gone.

Has anyone had windows 7 erase their storage drive? I am considering using stellar phoenix to recover my files, but I am not sure.

what gives?

thanks!

I see my event logs, but to be honest they are kind of cryptic. What am I looking for?

Thanks!

Go into your event logs, you should have a System category. Select the System category fo pull up the logs. Hit CTRL+F and type in disk to search all logs that mention disk. You'll be looking for an event that is categorized as an error and mentions an error with your Hard disk.
