i7 4770k question 2

Solution
95C is considered the max safe temp for your processor, 105 being the absolute limit.
70 and under is pretty good if you are OCing.

I wouldnt say those are ideal temps, but they are safe to run until you can invest in a new cooler.

Solution
Blow out your case to get the dust out - especially fans, filters and coolers. Bump up your cpu fan rpm. Get rid of any overclocks.

cpu temp (per bios/uefi) idle should be 40C max and gaming 55C max.

If not then reseat your cooler (new thermal paste). If still not, net a better cooler eg Noctua.

Yes, it is a normal temp for that processor. Highest stressed temperature in prime95 should be 90C.

If you have a bad chip, like me, even with a good cooler and a light OC, your temp is going to skyrocket to 90C when stressed. However, during gaming it will never get to that temperature. My max temp is 65C at 4GHz.

Nonsense... being there, done that. The 4770k is a bad chip. 70C is totally safe. Changing the cooler would render similar result unless spending an 100$ on an AIO watercooler for gaining 200MHZ more OC.

He never said he was on the stock cooler. I am assuming he has a 3rd party HSF.

Sorry for not responding sooner and thanks for all the comments. I have a CM EVO 212. I running it at 4.3ghz. I feel like I'm getting mixed answers though lol. I have read a lot though that the haswell series, xpecially 4770K runs really hot. I just want to make sure that it's safe where I'm running it.

I will be upgrading to water cooling by next year, but in these next 5-6 months. I want to make sure gaming for long periods of time is safe. Like I said usually peaks around 73*cel while gaming. At 100% load (stress testing) It sits at and average of 75 i would say.

Does running it hot for long periods of time reduce it's performance?

Okay, but just to get a clear answer. What temp is too high for long hours of playing? And from what I've been reading this is pretty normal for my chip. It says it runs really hot
