How to create clone of OS

Hello, I am look for a way to create a bootable (if possible) clone/backup on the current state of my machine. I recently reinstalled the OS, downloaded the couple hundred Microsoft updates, reinstalled my programs and updated all drivers. Now what I'm looking to have is a clean copy of its current state (before I start actually using the machine) in case I ever have to do this all again. I do have an external hard drive ready to be used as the backup. Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you!
