Taking Top Cover Off LGA1150 Socket

I accidentally pulled the lever before taking off the black top cover for the LGA1150 socket. Anyways I can't seem to get the top cover off. Do I need to pull the lever back into place? And should that take as much force as it seems, as I feel it will snap. Thanks!

Yes, the lever is loose when open. So is the cover. And yes, when you close the cover and swing the lever back down, it should be under the latch just like it was when you opened it. Be sure to keep the black protective cover in a safe spot. If you ever have to RMA the MB to the retailer or manufacturer, they will not accept it w/o the black cover being in place. It is the only thing protecting the very delicate contacts in the socket when the CPU is not present.
