Very high idle temps for GPU

Before today, I had a Radeon R9 270. I had low idle temps (<40 degrees), and had absolutely no problems. However, now that I've replaced it with a 290, idle temps are through the roof (>70 degrees). I have no idea whether or not there's something wrong with the GPU, or if speedfan is just giving me incorrect numbers.

You need to present more information than just the generic model number. Specifically, is it a stock blower cooler model? Is it an aftermarket 2-3 fan cooler? Is it new or open box/secondhand/refurbished? More details will go a long way to help others to help you.

I don't know what any of those mean, so I'll try to answer as best as I can. My current GPU looks like this; basically a long, plastic box with a jagged, rotating cylinder at the end, which I assume is the air intake. I bought it used, but from a reputable seller that claimed it was only put under stress for a few weeks. Hopefully that's enough information.

The one on the picture is a blower style fan. Those cards can run really hot. I used to have one of those till I sold it on eBay also haha. Don't worry about the temps. Those are it's "normal temperatures" according to AMD. It looks so damn sexy, only if it weren't for the damn temperature problems.
